Alvaro Alsogaray

Alvaro Alsogaray (June 22, 1913 – April 1, 2005) was a politician, military man, and economist from Argentina who promoted classical liberalism in Argentina in the second half of the twentieth century. He served as minister of economics in the 1960s. Then, he was a candidate for president in 1989 and an ally of Carlos Menem in 1995. He created the party UCeDé (Unión del Centro Democrático), whose ideology was conservative liberalism.

The great influence of Alsogaray was Ludwig Erhard. He considered himself anti-Peronist.
