Dr. McCoy

Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy was the ship's doctor on the original Star Trek television series. Known for being a bit gruff but passionate about saving lives, his dry and sarcastic sense of humor added flavor to the show. Probably the most emotional character, his banter with the logical Spock was one of the highlights of the series for many. Some famous catchphrases of his from the series that went on to be folklore was "He's dead, Jim!" and "I'm a doctor, not a..."

The part of Dr. McCoy was played by the late DeForest Kelley. He reprised the role of the character in the first episode of the Star Trek: The Next Generation series.

In the 2009 Star Trek film and onward, McCoy was portrayed by Karl Urban.
