Alexander Hamilton

Federalist No. 13, authored by Alexander Hamilton under the pen name Publius, is the thirteenth of 85 essays. Titled "Advantage of the Union in Respect to Economy in Government", Hamilton argues the cost to support one national government would be less costly than maintaining separate state governments, along with the strength of one unified military force to guard the inland communication between one state and another.

Additionally, Hamilton discusses the division of the states with respect to local habits and prejudices.

It was published on November 28, 1787.
