Alexander Hamilton

Federalist No. 61, authored by Alexander Hamilton under the pen name Publius, is the sixty first of 85 essays. Titled "The Same Subject Continued: Concerning the Power of Congress to Regulate the Election of Members", Hamilton addresses criticism that all elections should be at the district or county level. (Even state control is considered too high up by some.)

Hamilton was fiercely against faction and viewed election laws at the state and national level as less likely to beholden to little local interests.

It was published on February 26, 1788.
