Federalist No. 79, authored by Alexander Hamilton under the pen name Publius, is the seventy ninth of 85 essays. Titled "The Judiciary Continued", Hamilton argues that "permanence in office" (lifetime appointments) is one of the best ways to secure the independence of the judiciary. He also writes about compensation for judges and impeachment of them.

It was published on May 28, 1788.
