James Moore Wayne was an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. He also served as mayor of Savannah, Georgia and in the House of Representatives for Georgia's at-large district. On the Court, he voted with the majority in Dred Scott v. Sanford, but generally ruled in favor of government power under the Commerce Clause and did support the Union during the Civil War.[1]
