The '''House of York''' was a short-lived 15th century [[English]] dynasty – the last of the [[Plantagenet]] line – consisting of three kings: [[Edward IV]], [[Edward V]] and [[Richard III]]. It ended with the death of Richard III.
This was the state of affairs in the years immediately preceding the outbreak of hostilities that would come to be known as the [[Wars of the Roses]] from the idea that the waring parties each used a rose, red for the [[Lancastrian]]s, white for the '''Yorkists''', as representations of their cause. Whilst the house died with Richard III, "Yorkists" is still the term used to describe those who agitated against the [[Tudor]][[Henry VII]] in the first years of his reign.
