In response to the report from NBC, Facebook banned ads for ''The Epoch Times'', despite the fact that ''The [[New York Times]]'', [[CNN]] and other mainstream media organizations have also aired similar Facebook ads. The New York Times and CNN have a stronger partisan bias than the ''Epoch Times''.

On October 25, 2020, the [[New York Times]] published an "investigative" hit piece against ''The Epoch Times'' mirroring many talking points espoused by NBC a year prior. This included claiming that the ''The Epoch Times'' "used aggressive Facebook tactics and right-wing misinformation to create an anti-China, pro-Trump media empire." In response, ''The Epoch Times'' published an article highlighting "selective quotations", "personal bias" and "false information" present in the "investigative" report.
