This science documentary challenges the Global Warming orthodoxy of 'consensus', used to discount further evidence, this theme is constant throughout and purports to expose scientists for their alleged alarmism.
The science
The way science functions in the real world is explained. The political bias of scientists, censorship within the scientific community, the failure of the peer review process and inflated conclusions from uncertain data. "The most highly qualified and respected scientists can be blind to obvious deficiencies in a theory, and will be dismissive of evidence when it undermines what they want to believe." Scientists are invoking the threat of climatic disaster to drive an anti-capitalist agenda.

Negative reception
Complaints came from the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the former British government chief scientific adviser Sir David King, and MIT oceanographer Prof. Carl Wunsch. Also, Ofcom noted it received 265 complaints that the film had been factually misleading, one-sided, had omitted alternative views and broke Britain's broadcasting code.

Robert Watson, a former chairman of the IPCC was disappointed that the film had not been found to mislead viewers.

Filmmakers statements
“Everywhere you are told that man-made climate change is proved beyond doubt,” “But you are being told lies.”
“This is a story of how a theory about climate turned into a political ideology ... it is the story of the distortion of a whole area of science.”
“as the frenzy over man-made global warming grows shriller, many senior scientists say the actual scientific basis for the theory is crumbling.”
Most recent counter example
Using a storm as a counter example is a complete misunderstanding of the concept of global warming. Plus, it ignores the high temperature weather across the world, see this piece highlighting that 2013 was the hottest year on record in Australia. And it was reported in the right wing newspaper, the Australian.

Please do not claim that the article doesn't deal with whether or not it is the effect of climate change, as if cold temperatures immediately disprove it, high temperatures must immediately prove it.

Thank you for reading, CScotson 11:18, 5 January 2014 (EST)

:The Australian newspaper article isn't worth the paper it is written on, because land temperature averages are too unreliable to make sweeping claims about "hottest" or "coldest" year. Satellite readings prove that temperatures have not increased in a decade.

CScotson:

The Knights of Labor was a major American labor union in the 1880s.

Organized in 1869, it was the first effective labor organization that was more than regional in membership and influence. The Knights believed in the unity of the interests of all producing groups and sought to enlist in their ranks not only all laborers, but everyone who could be truly classified as a producer. The acceptance of all producers led to explosive growth after 1880.

The Noble Order of the Knights of Labor was the most ambitious and significant labor organization of the Gilded Age. As the charismatic leader of this group, Irish Catholic Terence Powderly was America's first nationally known labor leader, the first to achieve a high degree of recognition from working people, industrialists, and politicians across the continent. To most Americans, Powderly was the Knights of Labor.
Organization
The Knights local chapters, in contrast to later AFL-affiliated unions, was built like the fraternal lodge--a popular institution in Gilded Age America. The lodges stressed ritual, sociability, social reform, and self-improvement. The structure of the Knights, however, facilitated dissension within the organization, and a number of competing groups offered alternative memberships for defectors. The Knights had overarching grandiose objectives for the reform of society, and many disgruntled members migrated to organizations with more focused religious, political, social, or economic objectives, such as fraternal lodges, temperance groups, and mutual-benefit associations. The oath of secrecy and sympathy for socialism proved to be stumbling blocks for maintaining Catholic members, since the Catholic bishops were highly distrustful of secret orders. The Knights ended secrecy in 1882 and were generally welcomed by the bishops. Most leaders were Catholics.

Under the leadership of Powderly, the Knights championed a variety of causes, sometimes through political or cooperative ventures. Powderly hoped to achieve their ends through politics and education rather than through economic coercion. They were willing to form political coalitions with farmers, radicals, and prohibitionists, but rarely won office beyond local city elections. They did induce many states to form bureaus of labor statistics to collect nonpartisan information on the condition of workers.
Strikes
In 1883 the Knights greatly increased its membership after successful battles against railroad tycoon Jay Gould. But after 1886 skilled workers, became reluctant to join the Knights, because the Knights encouraged both skilled and unskilled laborers to join. The skilled workers, with years and decades of training, wanted more control of the workplace and did not wish to shared their gains with unskilled workers who came and left. The skilled workers much preferred the unions affiliated with the AFL (American Federation of Labor), which focused solely on labor issues and actions important to the skilled white men.

By the late 1880s the big strikes launched by the Knights had failed. The movement lost momentum in the wake of the Haymarket Riot of 1886, when their message was confused with that of bomb-making anarchists. The Knights faded away and were were replaced by the American federation of Labor, which still exists.

Racism
Unlike the later AFL, the Knights were mildly tolerant of black workers. Thus during the railroad strikes of the 1880s, the Knights' biracial membership and alliance system spread to include urban communities as well as black farm laborers near railroad lines in Arkansas. The Knights generated a degree of working-class identity within the social realities of the South,

Like the later AFL, the Knights opposed Chinese labor aggressively. In typical western cities, the Chinese were perceived as a threat to white labor, especially as labor-management tensions escalated in the late 19th century. At the same time, the Chinese were viewed as 'morally inferior,' non-Christian, and heathen. Chinese businesses were boycotted, the Chinese were denied jobs, and there were incidents of intimidation and violence. The Knights generally were active participants in the anti-Chinese campaign across the West.

For example, Chinese workers in Utah experienced persecution from organized labor groups, including the Knights and others. Persecution reached its peak in 1885-86. The Knights organized a systematic boycott against Ogden's Chinese vegetable growers, which drove most of them out of town. In Seattle in 1886 the Knights led the anti-Chinese fight, claiming to defend the republic against industrial capitalism and its racially inferior tools.

American Football is a professional sport played predominantly in North America. A team can score a 6-point touchdown by carrying the football into the opposing team's end zone. This can be done by running the ball past the end line (a running play), or passing the ball to a teammate inside the end zone (a passing play). After a touchdown, a team has the choice of kicking the ball through the goalposts for one point, or carrying the ball back into the end zone again for two points. A 3-point field goal can also be scored by kicking the ball between the goalposts in the opposing team's end zone. Finally, a 2-point safety can be scored by the defensive team if it stops the offensive team with the ball in its own end zone, if the offensive team fumbles in the end zone, if the quarterback intentionally grounds the ball in the end zone, if a blocked kick goes out of the end zone, or if a ball hits the goalpost such as on a bad snap.

Football is easily the most-viewed spectator sport in the United States, far surpassing baseball.

football meaning

Rules
As with all popular sports, football has a well-codified set of rules. These are mostly to promote safe gameplay, prevent serious injuries, and keep the game fair.

Field
American football is played on a field that is 120 yards long and 160 feet wide. The last 10 yards of each end of the field are known as end zones. The longer (120 yd) boundary lines are known as "sidelines", while the shorter (100 yd) boundary lines are known as "end lines". Two sets of hash marks run horizontally down the field, and every play starts with the ball on or between the hash marks. A player must carry the ball into (or catch a ball while within) the end zone in order to score a touchdown, worth 6 points.

At the back of each end zone are two vertical "goal posts", standing 18.5 feet apart. These are connected by a crossbar approx. 10 feet from the ground. After a touchdown, the scoring team may attempt a Point After Touchdown (extra point), where a player attempts to kick the ball through the posts. If successful, the team gains an extra point. Additionally, a team may attempt a field goal at any time (usually on a 4th down), though this is rarely attempted if the distance from the goal posts is more than ~35 yards. If successful, this kick is worth three points, though the other team gets possession of the ball regardless of the outcome of the kick.

Players
Each team may have exactly 11 players on the field at any given time, meaning a total of 22 players will be present on the football field during a play. Players are required to wear certain grades of helmets, shoulder pads, thigh/hip pads, and knee pads while playing on the field.

Advancing the Ball
The team with possession of the ball (the offense) is given four attempts (called downs) to advance the ball 10 yards down the field. If the ball is moved at least ten yards during these four attempts, the offense is given a first down, meaning that they have another four chances to move the ball 10 yards (the downs are cumulative; for example, if the offense moves the ball three yards on the first down and five yards on the second down, they only have to move it two yards over the next two downs to gain a first down) If the offense fails to move at least 10 yards over four plays, the opposing team is given possession of the ball.

The yard line on the field where the ball is located is known as the line of scrimmage. The offensive players must line up on the line of scrimmage facing the opponents end zone, while the defense must be behind the line of scrimmage with their backs to their own end zone.

Every play begins with the teams facing each other on the line of scrimmage, and the players may move once the ball is snapped (removed from the ground) by the center. The center usually snaps the ball between his legs to the quarterback (QB), who may take one of several courses of action;

*The quarterback may hand the ball off to a rusher (usually a fullback, halfback, or runningback), who will attempt to run the ball down the field as far as they can before being stopped by the defense.
*The quarterback may opt to throw the ball to a receiver (usually a wide receiver or tight end) who is already several yards down the field. Once the receiver catches the ball, he may continue to run until brought down by a defensive player. If the receiver does not catch the ball, it is called an incomplete pass.
*The quarterback may spike the ball at the ground to stop the game clock, at the expense of a loss of a down.
*The quarterback may run the ball down the field himself; this option is usually unwise, as an injury to the QB can be destructive to an entire team for the whole season.
*The quarterback may kneel on one knee ("genuflect") in order to spend a down while allowing the clock to continue to run. This is the opposite of a spike.

The play ends when the referee's whistle is blown. The whistle can be blown for several reasons;
*The ball carrier is tackled (his knee touches the ground) by members of the opposing team. The location of the ball when the carrier touches the ground is used to determine the amount of yards gained by the offense.
*A forward pass hits the ground or flies out of bounds before being touched. This is an incomplete pass.
*The ball carrier steps out of bounds.
*The offense carries the ball into the endzone, or kicks a field goal.

Scoring
There are three ways to score in football;
*A touchdown is scored when an offensive player runs the ball into or catches a pass in his opponent's end zone. Unlike Rugby, the ball does not need to be grounded to count as a touchdown ("try" in Rugby).
**After the touchdown, the scoring team may attempt a conversion. The football is placed on the opposing teams 2-yard line, and the offense may either kick it between to goalposts (for an extra point or Point After Touchdown (PAT)), or attempt to run or pass the ball into the endzone (a two-point conversion).
*A Field Goal (FG) occurs when the offense kicks the football between the opposing teams goalposts. A successful field goal is worth three points. A field goal differs from a PAT in that the field goal may be attempted at any time when the offense has possession of the ball (though almost always on a fourth down), and that it is worth three points rather than one.
*A Safety occurs when a defensive player downs a ball carrier in the ball carriers own end zone. A safety is also awarded if the offense fumbles the ball out-of-bounds in their own end zone or have a punt blocked in their own end zone.

Variations
Because real American football involves potentially dangerous physical contact, primary-grade schoolkids across the country often play flag football (where pulling a flag off of the opponent represents a tackle) and touch football (where touching the opponent with both hands represents a tackle). Both of these variants usually omit the offensive and defensive lines, and impose a time limit - often 3 seconds - before linebackers can rush the QB.

Global warming is the theory that the earth is gradually warming up due to human influence. Unusual cold weather disproves the politically motivated claim by liberals that the Earth is rapidly warming.

Liberal bias is severe for this issue: the lamestream media are far more likely to report on unusually hot weather than unusually cold weather. When there is strikingly cold weather, the lamestream media headlines distort the truth by calling it "nasty" or "severe", rather than "very cold."

Cold Weather Patterns
North America/United States
Many record-breaking cold temperatures and snowstorms have occurred in the last 10 years:

*About as many snowfalls have occurred in Florida in the past 10 years as in the 100 years before that.

*Prior to Thanksgiving 2013, a snowstorm ravaged the southwest and Texas, while temperatures in the northeast were about 15 degrees below normal.

*In the first half of 2011, West Coast temperature have been consistently running at least 10-15 degrees below normal. Many have theorized that this is God sending a message to liberals.

*In Truckee-Tahoe in the second half of June 2011, every day the temperatures have been colder than normal, often nearly 30 degrees below average.

*Though unreported by the lamestream media, temperatures in New Jersey at the beginning of July 2011 are about ten degrees below normal.

*In January 2010, "coldest weather in 12 years hits North Texas."

*In early February 2011, snow and ice pummeled Dallas and Houston, Texas, in a nearly unprecedented fashion.

*February 2010, 241-mile Lake Erie was completely frozen over for the first time in 14 years.

*Lake Michigan had not frozen over since the 1970s until ... 2009, when it froze over, and then again in 2010 and 2011.

*New York City had its sixth-largest snowstorm ever on the day after Christmas in 2010, and the liberals in charge were unprepared.

*In February 2011, some parts of San Francisco witnessed snow, though it was too little to count for an official measurement. San Francisco has not witnessed a recordable snow fall since 1976.

*Meteorologists did a thirty-year study of California forecast data. 75% of measurement sites saw a reduction in temperatures.

*In late October of 2011, a Northeaster dumps 2+ feet of snow in much of the region, and leaves over 3 million people without power.
In spite of predictions, 2011 is shaping up to be a cold year for Australia.
But, but, but global warming! Maybe the west should burn more fossil fuels to heat things up? Or maybe they can use the hot air coming out of Al Gore's mouth?

Even SMH, a notoriously Liberal men's magazine, is asking "Where's my Global Warming, Dude?".

Europe
*The North-Western part of the European continent had an unusually cold November and December in 2010, leaving even the most convinced "global warming" believer to ask "If everything is heating up and we're all going to die in a matter of a few years, why have these months been so cold!?" The global-warming alarmist "answer": [http://andyrussell.wordpress.com/2011/01/06/why-has-this-winter-been-so-cold-in-europe/ "It's hotter, therefore it's colder.
*In February of 2012, temperatures in Eastern Europe reached below -22 F. "Blizzards and the bone-chilling cold have resulted in the deaths of over 550 people so far, with rooftop-high snow drifts trapping tens of thousands of villagers in their homes and cutting off access to entire towns.
Indian Subcontinent and Asia
Delhi has been hit by thick fog during the winter of 2011 which disrupted flights, closed schools and killed dozens of people, proving that even the Indian subcontinent is not immune to the cold wave sweeping over the globe for 2011.

Even the BBC, a liberal media bastion, is showing the pictures for all to see. Is even the mainstream media abandoning "global warming", or is the evidence too much for them to sweep under the rug any more?

Meanwhile, the communist and atheist nation of North Korea (known as The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) is freezing their little Atheist toes off. The cold is so bad that the river that bisects Pyongyang has frozen over.

The cold appears to be universal, among industrial and non-industrial nations alike. Is it really carbon causing these events? And why are there no answers from the "global warming" community about the obvious inconsistencies in their theories?

Central America
In Mexico the unseasonably cold weather has caused significant destruction of crops in early February 2011. If it's so cold that corn can't survive, why do people keep claiming the planet is warming up?

Russian Landmass
A severe cold was expected by Dr. Ryan N. Maue to hit Russia in February 2011.

The famous Russian cold defeated Napoleon's armies, perhaps it will defeat the armies of Al Gore too?

China
Chaos in China as a cold snap there freezes over the highways, raises food price and causes Atheistic toes to curl. Is there any part of the world actually affected by global warming? Going simply by the law of averages, at least *somewhere* must be getting warmer.

Warm Weather Patterns
Warm weather patterns are fully expected in the absence of global warming. With global warming we wouldn't expect cold weather patterns, because the earth would be warmer.

The lamestream media publicize reports of hot weather, but that is utterly ineffective in trying to prove the existence of global warming. Warm weather does not change the fact that record cold weather disproves global warming. All the following record-breaking high temperatures would still be expected without global warming:
Random temperature fluctuations, including those above, would occur in the absence of global warming.

General Climate Patterns
*Although Global warming should be causing massive droughts, massive flooding along the Mississippi river in 2011 has resulted in many deaths as well as billions in property damage.

The Gore Effect
Often, when a climate conference is held, a new record low temperature is set for that location. Maybe God is trying to send the alarmists a message? In light of the global cold snap all around the world, perhaps the message extends beyond Al Gore?

*During the Cancun climate conference, record low temperatures in the low 50s were set on three consecutive days.
|Written by Frank Loesser; made famous by Kay Kyser and His Orchestra
|A patriotic song written and published as sheet music in 1942; Kay Kyser's recording came out in 1943. This rousing tune is about a chaplain (called a "sky pilot" in the song) who is with some men on a warship in the heat of a battle. One of the soldiers asks the chaplain to pray for the men shooting at the enemy aircraft. In response, the chaplain puts down his Bible, mans one of the gun turrets on the ship, and begins firing at the planes himself, and tells the soldiers, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition, and we'll all stay free!" Beyond the obvious pro-Christian and pro-American messages, it also tells us that sometimes, the Lord calls on us to put down the Bible and pick up our guns to defend the American way.
|Young the Giant
|"My body tells me no / But I won't quit / Cause I want more" — Powerful chorus describes how the singer defies his body's physical desire to stop working and continue working hard because he wants to reap the rewards he has earned from his hard work. It describes conservative traits (persevering with hard work) and capitalistic ideals (wanting the rewards you worked for; working past your limit because you have proper incentive).
|A song that might very well be about the hope Christianity offers the world. The person the singer talks with can be construed as a cynical atheist who has a sad outlook on life due to his lack of belief in a higher power. The singer on the other hand still has hope, as she knows there is a God. In the final lines she sings about flying over horses. This might interpreted to mean that like all of mankind she too experienced physical death, but due her belief in Jesus found her way onto Heaven.
The top five in a poll of the greatest songs in the 20th century, according to the Recording Industry Association of America and the NEA:

*Over the Rainbow (Judy Garland)
*White Christmas (Bing Crosby)
*Respect (Aretha Franklin)
*American Pie (Don McLean)

Also questionable:

*Hammer to Fall (Queen) - talks about being hopeful for the Soviet Union falling
*Rocky Raccoon (Beatles) - has multiple references to Gideon's Bible
*Been to Hell (Hollywood Undead)-Despite the large amount of swearing, it talks about the destructive nature of Hollywood, including how Hollywood and the quest for fame can cause someone to lose their faith. It also criticizes Hollywood values.
*Only the Good Die Young (Billy Joel)-a boy tries to convince a Catholic girl to have sex with him rather than practice abstinence. Although it contains a lot of anti-religious dialogue (from the boy's perspective), in the end the girl holds true to her values, and nothing happens between them.
*Still the One by Orleans - a very good song about marital fidelity. However, one of the singers, John Hall, later became a Democratic Congressman from New York and sued Republican presidential candidate John McCain over the use of the song
*My Sweet Lord (George Harrison) - Love for religion and having a relationship with God even uses hallelujah, though many Hindu undertones.
Radiohead is a band from the United Kingdom that is very influential in music, and was especially so during the 1990s. They have had eight albums, five EPs and one live album. Singer/guitarist/pianist Thom Yorke has had one solo album, and guitarist Jonny Greenwood has composed soundtracks for major motion pictures such as There Will Be Blood.

Early Years
The band was formed in high school by Thom Yorke and bassist Colin Greenwood. Drummer Phil Selway was added shortly after forming as was guitarist Ed O' Brien. Greenwood's younger brother Jonny would tag along to band practices at their mother's request and after begging to become a member numerous times, he was added as a harmonica player. He soon moved to keyboards and eventually lead guitar. The band were originally called 'on a friday' - reflecting their practice schedule. They played together under this name throughout their school years and then during university vacations whilst the bands members were studying.

After completing their studies the band were signed to Parlaphone Records and changed their name to Radiohead. They released their debut album, 'Pablo Honey', then 'The Bends', before the highly acclaimed 'OK Computer' - a regular high placing entry in critics 'best albums of all time' lists even twelve years after it's initial release.

Due to the success of 'OK Computer', the band were given absolute artistic freedom to record anything they liked for their next release. The band went against expectations, and rather than record another guitar based 'britpop' style record, released the electronica influenced 'Kid A', later albums continued this trend throughout the remainder of their recording contract with Parlaphone.

No longer signed to a major label, the band decided not to sign with another big label for their next album. Radiohead's 2007 album In Rainbows is notable for being the first major blockbuster release by a major band to be released for free. Upon the album's release, the record label sold it through InRainbows.com, where customers had the option to enter whatever price they wanted to pay (including $0). Similar practices have since been used by other major artists such as Nine Inch Nails and Girl Talk.
