DanPooner:

Sex Education is classroom instruction on human reproduction and sexuality. Liberals oppose teaching abstinence, the only certain way to avoid sexually transmitted diseases that cause infertility, some cancers and abortions. Conservatives typically favor abstinence-only sex education. After seeing the benefits of drug and alcohol prohibition, conservatives saw the readily evident benefits of simply informing people that they should not do something because of its sinful nature, and calling it a day. Just as use of marijuana and alcohol have all but disappeared in the United States, so too will the plague of premarital sex soon end.

Abstinence Only
Federal funding for abstinence only education across the country has increased during the decade, but still does not equal the amount of money the government gives to a Planned Parenthood, a single organization, each year.

Sex Education in England
In England the National Curriculum requires all schools to offer comprehensive sex education as part of Personal, Social and Health Education, from junior school on, but parents may choose to not have their children attend sex education classes.

References
reflist
