I hope people (still) like it now. Being not very familiar with the situations in other places, I've made some assumptions in the rewrite, so please jump in and correct what I've done. The article says nothing about what the failure of American students has to do with [[atheism]]. Interestingly in [[Japan]], a country with no state religion, only 1% of the population is [[Christian]]. Perhaps the solution is to adopt [[Shinto]] or [[Buddhism]].
