Heraclitus was a great ancient Greek philosopher who had many beliefs. He was known as Obscure because of the difficulty of his thought. He was alive in about 500 B.C. We get this information from the 130 fragments of his writing,

Heraclitus said to have access to the central truth to all people. People ignored this truth because they didn't understand it. He believed everything is constantly moving and changing. He called it strife. He really believed in strife.

Heraclitus believed that strife balances opposite forces. He called this balance unity or strife. He believed this balance unity or strife governed human life. Examples of this unity are tension between life and death, and walking and sleeping. This was his philosophy of life.

Heraclitus lived in Ephesus, a city in Asia Minor. He had ideas, called Logos, in different philosophies. He liked doing Metaphysics, Epistemology, and Ethics Politics.

Heraclitus is now regarded as a forerunner of modern Liberalism. His statement "Everything flows," has become a catch phrase for hippies and other agents of the anti-establishment. He was said to have the central truth to all people and believed in Strife and Unity. Heraclitus influenced Plato, Aristotle, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Karl Popper, among many other philosophers, ancient and modern which made our world a better place.
