Of course, gravity, relativity, the theory of light, etc. are all unproven, but they are all backed up by massive amounts of evidence. There was a time when Wikipedia was a [[meritocracy]], and I rose rapidly through the ranks then. I got Jimbo to create the Mediation and Arbitration committee's, so he wouldn't have to be the sheriff all the time. I became the first elected bureaucrat, and pioneered the system whereby admins could enforce rules without having to take everything before a committee.

But I didn't see the [[anti-elitism]] creeping up and choking the life out of the place. [[Larry Sanger]] was right.

My only worry about Conservapedia is that it '''might''' make the equal and opposite mistake; it has certainly been accused of it, hundreds of times. But senior staff have been amazingly tolerant of opposing ideas here so far and I reason to hope they will continue to do so.

NAMBLA is the North American Man-Boy Love Association.[http://www.nambla.org] Members of this organization mobilize in an attempt to restructure state and federal law to allow for men and boys to engage in sexual relations with each other. Specifically, they seek to change “age of consent” laws which require that a child be of a certain age (which varies by state) before they can agree to sexual intercourse.

The group was defended by the [[ACLU]] in a $200 million civil lawsuit brought by the parents of a 10 year old murder victim who claimed the killers were motivated by material accessible on the NAMBLA website. During the late 1960s, students at the University of Wisconsin became radicalized by the Vietnam war, and the university was a center of campus unrest. One protest focussed on the presence of Dow Chemical Company job recruiters—Dow being singled out as a manufacturer of napalm, a weapon thought to be particularly cruel. Others centered on the military-funded Army Mathematics Research Center (AMRC) which performed a mixture of published and secret research; the university stressed AMRC's theoretical studies, while campus radicals pointed to evidence that some of its work had direct military applications. In 1970, Karleton Armstrong and three other students constructed what would now be called a "car bomb," filling a stolen van with a mixture of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil (a home-made explosive familiar to farmers). I don't think the use of the word "only" is appropriate without any rationale for what the percentages ''should'' be, but I'll leave it.
I just don't think "has one of the smallest minority enrollments among major schools" is justified by the facts. "Among the lowest in the Big Ten" is as close as I can some to preserving Aschlafly's point without stretching the facts beyond the breaking point. During the late 1960s, students at the University of Wisconsin became radicalized by the Vietnam war, and the university was a center of campus unrest. One protest focussed on the presence of Dow Chemical Company job recruiters—Dow being singled out as a manufacturer of napalm, a weapon thought to be particularly cruel. Others centered on the military-funded Army Mathematics Research Center (AMRC) which performed a mixture of published and secret research, with the university emphasizing its theoretical studies, while campus radicals suggesting it also did work with direct, practical military use. In 1970, Karleton Armstrong and three other students constructed what would now be called a "car bomb," filling a stolen van with a mixture of ammonium nitrate and fuel oil, a home-made explosive familiar to farmers, and exploded it outside the Sterling Hall building which housed the AMRC.<ref>[http://www.madison.com/library/LEE/sterlinghall.html Sterling Hall Bombing], Madison library website</ref> The explosion killed a graduate student. The ensuing shock and revulsion, and the winding down of the Vietnam war, brought a steep decline to the period of campus radicalism.
