Along with others such as [[Jack Kerouac]] and [[William S. Burroughs]], he became part of what was dubbed the "Beat Generation" of writers. This charge was rejected in October 1957 when Judge Clayton Horn ruled that the book had redeeming social value. <ref>[http://www.english.uiuc.edu/maps/poets/g_l/ginsberg/life.htm]</ref> During the trial, Ginsberg relocated to [[Paris]] with his lover Peter Orlovsky.
