Obama has been universally declared to be the first black President of the USA by all of the world's media.  Can you cite any credible external source which suggests that he isn't the first black President, or suggests other US Presidents who may have been black? :::::jpatt - here's what I want to know.  People in the media obsess about Obama being Muslim or not, obsess about his name, and if a birth certificate has the right boarder around it.  But why does virtually NO ONE (including yourself) not talk about his cocaine habit.  He admitted to it, yet I didn't see it mentioned once by the McCain camp or the republicans at large.  Isn't that far more important about who he is, who he has been, and the choices he might make than accusations about him being on a board with someone or his name?  He not only admits to "doing blow", but says it so light heartedly.  It's just no big deal in his mind. Because it's not something he still does. British, Irish, German, and Kenyan are not racial identities.  They are nationalities.  It'd even be a stretch to consider them ethnicities.  Further, while Obama claims to be part-Cherokee, there's no particular evidence for that (other than family rumor).  His father was black (African) and his mother was white--hence, bi-racial.  I also removed the bit about Obama struggling to be accepted as black by the black community, which is just silly, but I'll leave it in for now, in the interests of parity.--[[User:RossC|RossC]] 12:33, 19 November 2008 (EST)
