The Canadian government promotes an idea of multiculturalism and preserved diversity known as the "cultural mosaic" of anyone can preserve their own cultural, ethnic and racial distinction. When applied, that means Francophones will remain a "separate but equal" as well a not-so-assimilated and perhaps back to being a marginalized minority within an Anglo/British descent-dominant society.
