Annibale Carracci (Bologna 1560 - Rome 1609). Italian painter, Bolognese school.
In 1595, Carracci was called to Rome by Cardinal Odoardo Farnese to carry out his masterpiece, the decoration of the Farnese Gallery in the cardinal's family palace.[1] Other important works are Domine, Quo Vadis? (National Gallery, London, c.1602), The Flight into Egypt (Doria Gallery, Rome, c.1604) and Holy Women at the Tomb of Christ (The Hermitage, St. Petersburg, 1585).
