The Number of Internet Users refers to the active population using the internet in any given year. As of spring 2021, there were 4.57 billion people using the internet.^[1]

According to Statista, "In 2019, the number of internet users worldwide was 3.97 billion, up from 3.74 billion in the previous year."^[2] In 2005, only about 1.1 billion people used the internet. That means there has been drastic and extraordinary growth in internet usage in the last 15 or so years, since it has more than tripled since then.

India in particular is rapidly rising to internet prominence: "Internet penetration in India reached 50% at the start of 2020. Meaning, already half of the population in India uses the internet. This is a rather fast jump, looking at the fact that in 2015, only 19% of Indian population was actively using the internet at 243 million users."

"It is unrealistic to expect that internet adoption will nearly triple in the next five years like it did in the last five. Nevertheless, even with a slower growth rate, Atlas VPN projections reveal that by 2025, India will reach 1 billion active web surfers." ^[3] The increasing number of web users offers vast potential for Internet evangelism.

"Looking ahead, Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that there will be 6 billion Internet users by 2022 (75 percent of the projected world population of 8 billion) — and more than 7.5 billion Internet users by 2030 (90 percent of the projected world population of 8.5 billion, 6 years of age and older)."^[4]

As of 2023, the number of Internet Users has crossed an amazing 5 Billion Souls: "How many people use the internet daily in 2023? 5.07 billion people use the internet daily." ^[5] The potential for Online Evangelism in this context is massive and must be realized quickly.

As of 2024, nearly 5.5 Billion people use the Internet. "The latest data affirms that globally, 5.47 billion people use the internet daily."^[6] Note how the statistic keeps increasing both as a number and as a percentage.

Around 2026, it was reported that Internet Users pass the 6 Billion Mark: "Digital 2026: internet users pass the 6 billion mark - Our Digital 2026 Global Overview Report is packed with big numbers and impressive milestones, but perhaps the most important headline is the fact that there are now more than 6 billion people using the internet." ^[7]

In November 2025, Grok reported: ""Internet penetration refers to the percentage of a population (typically those aged 6+ or 10+) that uses the internet. As of early 2025, approximately 73% of the world's population—around 6.04 billion people out of 8.25 billion—is online, up from 67.5% (5.52 billion users) in late 2024. This growth is driven by cheaper smartphones, expanding mobile networks (especially 4G/5G), and investments in infrastructure, though challenges like affordability, geography, and digital literacy persist, particularly in rural Africa and parts of Southern Asia where about 2.21 billion people remain offline."

The need for Online Evangelism and its Massive Untapped Potential for the Harvest

And 347,222 users were scrolling on Instagram.

Why Online Evangelism

"Why Online Evangelism? There are approximately 7 billion people [editor's note: now 8 Billion] in the world.

4 billion use the internet [editor's note: now 5 Billion, and rapidly growing].

And 3 billion are on social media.

Digital Evangelism helps us spread the Gospel into all the world at a rate we never could’ve imagined before. Moreover, it connects us to the younger generation." ^[9]

India's Rapid Rise to Internet Prominence

Given the Massive Population of India, including the massive unevangelized population, these numbers are to be expected: "Like nearly 900 million people in India, Devi has never used a smartphone or accessed the internet. The race to bring those millions online, adding to more than 500 million Indians already connected to the internet, is being contested by the biggest global names in tech. And they're shaping the future of the internet in the process." ^[10].

"The internet industry has come a long since the last few decades. Currently, India’s estimated internet users is set to reach 900 million by 2025. Combine that with the fact that 11% of the global web3 pool is from India, the answer is apparent: The future of the web will have India leading the way. And the revolution has already begun." ^[11]

Social Media in particular is going to play a large part in Online Evangelism. Every Aspiring Evangelist should be active on Social Media Platforms. And places like here on Conservapedia also will continue to have extremely important roles in pushing forth the Conservative Christian Message.

Elon Musk's Starlink proves a Gamechanger

Starlink Internet designed by Elon Musk proves to be a gamechanger in enhancing Global Connectivity. In June 2024, Elon Musk announced 100 Countries are already connected via Starlink. ^[12] It is likely only going to be a matter of a few years before the remaining 100 odd countries are as well. Those who want to get their own Websites, Social Media Platforms etc up for Internet Evangelism need to get started now because there won't be much time once the rush begins. It is almost certain now that our generation will see (1) All 8 or 9 or 10 BN online and connected for the first time (2) the Great Commission completed in our time, including by enthusiastic Internet Evangelists.

100 Countries were connected by Starlink in around 5 years. Thus, it is reasonable to estimate the remaining 100 odd countries will be connected in the next 5 years, so that by 2030 - the 2000th Anniversary of Christ beginning to preach! - the entire world will be online for the first time ever! This is a critical moment in the history of the Church, and we dare not fail now. And also an extremely exciting one, because if the Church responds as we should, the possibility of a Billion Soul Harvest in the next 10 to 15 years is totally possible now.

Accordingly, by November 2025, Starlink is now in 150 nations, serving 8 million users. ^[13] It looks like all 200 nations and 8 billion users are well on course to being connected by 2030.

Social Media Users touch 5 Billion

21st Century Internet Evangelists cannot hope to succeed if they ignore the vast potential of Social Media for Internet Evangelism.

"As of October 2023, there were 5.3 billion internet users worldwide, which amounted to 65.7 percent of the global population. Of this total, 4.95 billion, or 61.4 percent of the world's population, were social media users." ^[14]
