Natural numbers are the can either be an element of the set {1, 2, 3,...} or an element of the set {0, 1, 2, 3,...} which are respectivly positive and non-negative [[integers]].  Positive integers are generally used in number theory, while non-negative integers are favored in mathematical logic, set theory and computer science.
