Acacius (d. 489) was the patriarch of Constantinople from 471 to 489. During that time a schism between the Eastern and Western churches had arisen under the Byzantine Emperor Zeno. Acacius tried to reach a compromise that both sides rejected, and he was condemned by Felix III. The controversy was resolved in 518, well after his death.
