Media blackout refers to an attempt by the mainstream media to refrain from reporting certain news events. Conservatives and libertarians often point to incidents regarding global warming, safety of foods and drugs, successes of minor political candidates such as Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann, and Obama's eligibility for President.
