The Japanese Communist Party is a far-left communist political party in Japan. The party was created in 1922 as an underground political organization. The party's political philosophy is "democracy, socialism, and pacifism". The political party wants an end to Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan as they see it as an infringement of Japan's sovereignty. The party's membership is around 400,000.
The party is currently lead by Tadayoshi Ichida who serves as the secretary general and Kazuo Shii who serves as chairman.[1]
