Um...if they mean the Holy Rman Empire, that means that England, Scotland, France, much of Italy, and many other parts of Europe were not in Christendom. I can't imagine Miriam-Webster getting it wrong, but "Christendom", simply put, was a medieval term for Christian Europe. Um...if they mean the Holy Rman Empire, that means that England, Scotland, France, much of Italy, and many other parts of Europe were not in Christendom.
