Special effects are effects used in magical illusions, film, and theater that dazzle or bewilder an audience. The use of special effects in Hollywood movies has increased dramatically over the past two decades with the introduction of computer-generated imagery (CGI). The success of a special effect can be determined by how convincing the effect is.
