Melanoma

Melanoma is cancer of the cells in the skin that produce melanin, a brown pigment. Melanoma often begins in a mole.

Mortality rate

The mortality rate from melanoma is 20%. Melanoma causes three out of four skin cancer deaths.[1]

Protection

New Zealand's Cancer Society implied on their website that sunscreen protects against melanoma.[1]
