Acacius (died 489) was the patriarch of Constantinople from 471 to 489.[1] During that time a schism between the Eastern and Western churches had arisen under the Byzantine Emperor Zeno.[1] Acacius tried to reach a compromise that both sides rejected, and he was condemned by Felix III.[1] The controversy was resolved in 518, well after his death.[1]
