The U.S. National Hurricane Center is a national organization that tracks tropical storms and hurricanes over the Atlantic, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and the Eastern Pacific from May 15 through November 30. [1] Since 1953 the center has been naming storms with human names alphabetically. Originally only female names, they have been named for both males and females starting in 1979.
