The American Museum of Natural History in New York City was founded in 1869. It has 25 buildings, 46 exhibition halls, research laboratories and a renowned library. Its collections contain over 32 million specimens. It has about 4 million visitors a year. It has one of the world's finest exhibitions of fossils demonstrating the evolution of humans and other vertebrates.
