Borda count

The Borda count is a method of elections pioneered by Jean-Charles de Borda. Unlike the more commonly used method of plurality, the Borda takes into account "favorites" and "least favorites". By the Borda method, it is possible for a winner of the most "first place" votes to still lose. The Borda method assigns points to a candidate dependent on X, where X is the number of candidates running for a position. A first place vote gives the candidate X votes, a second place gives the candidate X - 1 points, and so on to the last place vote, which gives the candidate one point.
