Abel second son born to Adam and Eve. He was a keeper of sheep and made offerings to the Lord from the fatted portions of the firstborn of his flocks. Was killed by his older brother Cain because Abel's offerings were accepted and his were not. Abel was the first person to be murdered in the Bible. (Gen 4:2 - 4:8)

Jesus said that Abel was righteous (Matt 23:35) as did the writer of the book of Hebrews (Heb 11:4)
