Al Jolson (born Asa Yoelson in Russian Lithuania 1886 - died in San Francisco 1950) was a Jewish American actor and singer who often wore 'black face' makeup.
He is best known for his role in the 1927 film The Jazz Singer, which was one of the first films with audible dialogue.
