The Crucifixion

Albrecht Altdorfer (Regensburg 1480 - Regensburg 1538), German painter and leading member of the "Danube School" of German painting.

Through his color modulation, he obtained completely new ways of expression directed at the emotions. Altdorfer's works are mainly biblical and historical subjects set against highly imaginative and atmospheric landscape backgrounds.
