All Saints Day or All Souls' Day is the religious feast observed by many Christian churches celebrating all the saints. It occurs on November 1st in the west. Its present form dates from the time of Pope Gregory III back in the mid 700s. A derivative of an earlier naming of the celebration is how the holiday of Halloween got its name.
