Americans United for Separation of Church and State is a liberal organization which asks the IRS to revoke the tax-exempt status of conservative Churches which its liberal leadership disagrees with.[1][2]

The leader of Americans United is Barry Lynn, who is an ordained minister in the liberal United Church of Christ. The United Church of Christ invited Barack Obama to speak at one of its functions and was not criticized by Lynn despite his outrage at more conservative churches for similar political activities.[3]
