Andorra is a small, mountainous, European country (population 70,000) in the Pyrenees, between France and Spain. Historically jointly governed by representatives of both countries, since 1993 it has been an independant democracy.

The capital is Andorra la Vella.

The official language is Catalan, but both French and Spanish are also widely spoken.

Andorra is a tax haven, a centre for buying duty-free goods, and an important winter sports destination. Historically smuggling was an important industry. Andorra's status with regard to European Union membership is ambiguous, though the Euro is the standard currency.
