Apologetics
The term apologetics comes from the Greek word apologia (from Greek ἀπολογία), which means "speaking in defense." Apologetics is often used to refer to a reasoned defense of Christianity.
As far as apologetics, a theological, political or other topic that is evidentially based will often have a substantial body of evidence/argumentation supporting it. A position/topic with no or little evidence often has poor-quality apologetics and frequently tends to stagnate as a discipline.
Apologetics are frequently created by theologians, academics, think tanks, experts or laynen with a high degree of interest in a topic.
Christian apologetics
Christian apologetics is the defense of the Christian faith through logic/evidence based arguments. Jesus himself used apologetics in his discussions with Sadducees, who denied the Resurrection, and Pharisees, who denied Jesus's divinity.
