Aristotle and abortion

Aristotle and abortion concerns the prohibition on abortion by Aristotle as soon as the unborn child attains any sensation of life, such as a heartbeat:

“ In the seventh book of The Politics, Aristotle claims that the practice of abortion must be forbidden as soon as the embryo acquires sensation and life because, after this stage of a pregnancy, it is an impious mè hosion act.[1] ”
