Arminianism is a school of Protestant Christian theology developed by Jacobus Arminius. Its influence is found throughout many Protestant denominations such as Methodism and Pentecostalism.

Arminian theology is often described as being on the opposite end of the Protestant spectrum from Calvinism. Unlike Calvinism, which holds that God predestines some people to be saved through God's grace and individuals cannot make the decision to come to Christ of their own free will, Arminianism holds that salvation is a matter of personally choosing to accept Christ and that salvation is available to anyone who makes that choice of their own free will. Also, unlike Calvinists and many Baptists, Arminianism teaches that a believer can lose their salvation if they fall away from the faith or consciously reject Christ.
