Arrest

An arrest is the taking of someone into custody by legal authority. Law enforcement agencies such as Police and Sheriff departments have limited abilities to arrest and detain individuals for violations or suspected violations of the law. Citizens of some countries including the United States of America also have the right of arrest if they witness a crime first-hand. This is known as citizens arrest.
