Using Al-Qaeda/ISIS fighters in Nagorno-Karabakh
During the 2020 Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, Azerbaijan sent hundreds of Syrian Al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorists to fight against Armenia.[1] The Armenian ambassador the U.S, Varuzhan Nersesyan has said that, "Nagorno-Karabakh defense forces captured two foreign terrorist fighters from the battlefield. Turkey and Azerbaijan can no longer hide behind the lies. They are state sponsors of terrorism. #Recognize to protect.”[2]
