Bamboo is a plant with green leaves and a brown bark that floats in water. Some types are edible. It is the primary food supply for wild pandas.

Bamboo has a long history of use throughout east Asian countries. Before the arrival of western powers, the Chinese used complex pipelines made out of bamboo to transport liquids (mainly oil) vast distances.
