Barbarism is defined as the absence of culture and civilization. Secondly, it is defined as cruelty to human life.

In the United States, barbarism existed in the mid-1800s as two twin relics: polygamy and slavery. As a result, the Republican Party was founded in 1854 to subvert the numerous affects on these twin relics.[1]
