The Basque country (Basque: Euskal Herria; Spanish: País Vasco; French: Pays Basque), is a region in northern Spain, and southern France comprising of Álava, Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa and Navarra under Spanish rule and Lapurdi, Basse Navarra and Soule under French rule. The term "Euskadi" is used to refer to the Basque Autonomous region, one of the semi-autonomous regions which make up the country of Spain. The Basques speak a unique language called Euskara, which is not related to any other language in the world.
