'''Bastille Day''' (July 14, 1789), also known as French Independence day marked the beginning of the [[French Revolution]]. It was when French [[peasant]]s stormed the [[Bastille]] prison and freed all seven inmates. Its most famous inhabitant, the author and aristocrat, the [[Marquis de Sade]] had been removed from the Bastille a few days previously and sent to a [[lunatic asylum]].

Bastille Day is still celebrated in [[France]] today on the 14th of July.
