The Berlin Conference was a series of negotiations held between 15 November 1884 and 26 February 1885 in Berlin, in which the major European nations met to decide questions connected with the Congo River basin in Central Africa. The Conference, at which Africans had no representation, resulted in the division of the African continent between the various European colonial powers.
