Beverly Cleary (born 1916) is the author of more than 30 children's books. Some of her best-known works include Henry Huggins, Beezus and Ramona, Strider, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Ramona Forever, Two Dog Biscuits, and Ramona's World. Cleary was born in Oregon and grew up in Portland, attending public schools there. Portland Public Schools renamed the merged Hollyrood Elementary and Fernwood Middle School as the new Beverly Cleary School in 2008.
