Black Ribbon Day, known also as Europe-wide Day of Remembrance for the victims of all totalitarian and authoritarian regimes is a day of remembrance for the victims of any kind of totalitarian ideology, but particularly noted are Stalinism, Fascism, Nazism, and Communism.
Black Ribbon Day began in 1989 and is every year on August 23rd.
The date was chosen to signify the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact in which the dictatorial communist and fascist regimes joined forces to establish their spheres of influence.
