Black clergy in the USA are not merely black members of the clergy but are seen as a political and social force. Largely Democratic, a few are conservative - and often persecuted by liberal blacks. Black clergy primarily cater to predominantly black congregations, although their willingness to include non-blacks tends to exceed the willingness of white congregations to include blacks.
