Blog is short for a web log. Originally they were for people to write about their daily lives, although they have become a common way for entrepreneurs to make money online through services such as Google AdSense.

Additionally, blogs have become a source of "new journalism" - many prominent newspapers, even the New York Times, have created blogs, especially to cover continually evolving issues like political campaigns.[1]
