The Bolsheviks were a wing of the Russian Social-Democratic Workers' Party. They seized control of the government in Russia in the October Revolution under Vladimir Ilyich Lenin and became the dominant political power.

They were one of two Marxist groups in Russia. The Bolsheviks' goal was a violent revolution by a small group of people as quickly as possible. The Bolsheviks were very extreme and violent.
